OSLO Policy on Children in the Salons
OSLO is made up of three related businesses – OSLO Beauty, OSLO Hair & OSLO Health. These businesses, whilst under the same umbrella, offer differing services and cater for different needs. The policy regarding children varies between these businesses. Whilst we are an inclusive family business, pro-children, and pro-breastfeeding, the health and safety of all parties is of paramount importance.
OSLO Hair and OSLO Beauty: In the interests of the health and safety of our clients, staff, and especially infants and children, our policy is that no accompanying children* under the age of 12 are permitted on the salon premises.** This is due to the environment of hair and beauty salons containing many hazardous risks, including various chemicals, unsafe machines and equipment, sharp and dangerous objects, and various hot tools and burn risks. As we have a duty of care to our staff, clients and other guests, we do not believe that it is appropriate to expose children and therefore others to these risks and dangers. This is on the basis that children cannot be supervised whilst parents are undergoing treatments.
* Accompanying children are any children attending the salon with a client, not availing of OSLO services. Limited services are available for Children between the ages of 8 and 12, namely haircuts and nail treatments. Under these circumstances, they should be accompanied. As they are getting services however and are stationary, this clearly mitigates the risks outlined above.
** Whilst it is company policy that no accompanying children attend, please note that in the event that any client should be required to breastfeed whilst attending our salon, or arrive whilst breastfeeding, suitable and reasonable arrangements will of course be made to accommodate the mother to do so in the salon’s waiting area. Unfortunately however, it is not suitable to carry out treatments whilst feeding, nor to have babies in the treatment area. We would of course be happy to re-schedule appointments where required.
OSLO Health – Mespil Road: OSLO Health offers pre-natal and post-natal classes including Mummy & Me classes. Babies are invited to attend only these appropriate classes and clients are asked to please carry their babies in either a sling or car seat. We would request that buggy systems are not brought to the studio as they may create a trip or fire hazard. Babies who may be attending these classes are not permitted in the treatment areas of OSLO Hair and Beauty.
